ICM, or Intentional Camera Movement, is a photography technique where the camera is deliberately moved during exposure to create abstract, expressive images. Instead of aiming for sharp focus, ICM embraces motion—producing painterly effects, soft textures, and mood-driven compositions that transform ordinary scenes into art.
If you’re wondering, “Why move the camera when we work so hard for sharp shots?” — that’s exactly the point of creative exploration. ICM challenges our usual habits, encouraging us to see light, color, and form in new ways. It’s less about precision and more about expanding creativity by experimenting beyond the pursuit of perfection.
If you are unsure what ICM is or what images look like do a quick google image search or read here. https://fstoppers.com/education/what-i-learned-intentional-camera-movement-photography-692429

Lightroom Quick Tips / TIPS FOR WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHERS
When setting white and black points you can hold down the Alt/Option key to see any highlight or shadow clipping while moving the adjustment.
While in Crop Mode, you can press the letter O key to cycle through various crop overlays (rule of thirds, etc...)
The Texture adjustment works great on fur and feathers.
To reset any slider or adjustment back to its 0 value, you can just double-click on the name of the adjustment.
If using the Detail panel, make sure you zoom in to 100% on the photo or you won't see the effects of your adjustments.
These tips are from Matt Kloskowski from his class Lightroom for Wildlife Photographers, from the Lightroom Virtual Summit 2024
