2020 April Images - Monochrome
The Judge - Arthur Jacoby
Arthur Jacoby, of Boca Raton, Florida, has been interested in Photography all his life and has embraced digital photography and the digital darkroom. He believes the photographer is an artist. The camera and post image processing are their tools to communicate their vision to the viewer. For him, all judging is subjective. He doesn't believe that are any absolute standards for right or wrong images.
When Jacoby is judging, he tries to understand what story or message the photographer is making and how effectively he thinks they have been in communicating this. He will point out technical and composition issues that he thinks could improve their image. He will try to indicate some steps that could be taken to implement his suggestions and recommendations.
Jacoby likes travel, wildlife, landscape, street, black and white, and infra-red photography. He has received image of the year awards from his photography club (Boynton Beach Camera Club), from PSA for his portraits, from the Friends of the Arthur R. Marshall Everglades Foundation, and ribbons and medals from many other photo competitions. He is a commentator for three PSA groups, has been the judge for two PSA print of the month competitions and judge at several local Photo Clubs.
Jacoby is a former educator from NYC in various roles, and the Education Director at Henry Street Settlement's Urban Family Center, a shelter for homeless families and battered women and their families.
