MOWDY RANCH FIELD TRIP
We are excited about our third adventure to Mowdy Mustang Ranch located in Coalgate, OK.
For those who are not familiar with the ranch, you can research the facility at
www.mowdyranch.com. Mowdy is privately owned but leased by BLM (Bureau of Land
Management of the Dept. of the Interior). It is one of only three wild mustang sanctuaries
open to the public. You can see some of our personal shots on the Club’s website under
Events>Field Trips tabs.
We have made arrangements with Mowdy Ranch to arrive October 17, Milky Way shoot that
night and morning and afternoon mustang shoots (riding in their chauffeured 4-wheel ATV’s) on
the 18 th and return home the morning of the 19 th .
There are several units for sleeping, and they can take up to 16 individuals with each person
having a bed. Our room cost for the two nights would be no more than $125 total. In addition,
there would be a cost of $100 for the photo tours. Mowdy accepts checks or cash.
They do have a complete kitchen, but we recommend breakfast at Nana’s in Coalgate or
lunch/dinner at either of the restaurants in Coalgate. After a late afternoon or early morning
of photography, cooking and cleaning is the last thing on our bucket list. Coalgate is about 15
minutes from the ranch.
