Print Competition Guidelines
All dues paid members of the HSVCC are eligible to participate in our annual print contest. Each member is encouraged to submit up to two (2) photographs.
Prints MUST be delivered to the designated exhibit site for displaying the photographs, if you are not delivering your own photos you must insure they have been properly labeled ready for display at the time of delivery to be accepted.
Although the entrant selects the category for each entered photograph, the final decision will be the Print Coordinator if it appears a more appropriate category should be selected, and the entrant will be notified of any change. Judging will be done by an outside judge (non-member, expert/professional) with no club member present after the photographs have been displayed.
If the HSVCC decides to include People Choice Awards, voting by the public will be held during the designated period to be decided. Winning photographs from the judge and People’s Choice Awards will be identified and acknowledged at the designated time and place decided by HSVCC.
All reasonable care will be taken in the handling of the submitted photographs, however the HSVCC takes no responsibility for any damage or loss of the prints (we have had no issues in past).

PRINT COMPETITION – OCTOBER 2025
Long time members know that our print competition exhibit is the highlight of the year that also includes a reception for our friends and the community. Since the Woodlands lobby is no longer available for Club exhibits, it will be held at the Coronado Center for the month of October. You have made several suggestions for alternatives, but we feel that the Coronado Center is our best option at this point. The POA has taken the hanging systems from the Woodlands and added to the Coronado Center. It is promised that the lighting will be improved by our exhibit time.
It is important for you to read the Print Competition Guidelines under the Competition tab on our website. There is no need to go over all the details here since it would just be a repetition of what is on the website.
Some dates to make note:
The prints will be judged the first week of October by professional photographer Shauna Raduske of Cabot. After the judging is completed, labels will be changed out that will include the photographer’s name. Our October 14th regular meeting will be held at the Coronado Center with Shauna presiding over the meeting. She will talk about each print and award ribbons.
We also have the Coronado lobby and/or a side room reserved for October 16th for a reception open to the community between 2:00 and 4:00 PM. There will be advertising for the reception, but we suggest you also invite your friends personally, perhaps via emails. The reception is being planned by the Club’s Social Committee, and they will be asking you to help with refreshments. We may have a cash bar operated by a POA bartender, but this will be decided at a future date.
The subject categories (topics) have been changed as a result of some of the suggestions given on the Club survey. It may appear that you will be more limited in where your planned photo will fit. However, we feel sure that most any subject will fit in one of the categories.
Your print may be on any medium, but be sure you confirm size restrictions on the website. We are limiting the number of prints to two this year because of increase in number of members and space available. Following are some printing companies our members have used:
Bay Photos – bayphotos.com
Artbeat Studio – artbeatstudio.com (wait for 30% coupon)
Mpix – mpix.com
Nations Photo Lab – nationsphotolab.com
Tim Donar – [email protected] – 501-908-1109 (Conway) – canvas
Bedford Camera – Little Rock
Canvas Discount – canvasdiscount.com
CanvasPeople – canvaspeople.com
As explained in the Guidelines, you may print any digital image from previous years’ competitions, but a print of a current year digital image competition is not allowed. You may also use prints from previous years if they did not receive ribbons. You may submit one or two prints in any combination of the subject categories.
This year we have decided to implement an entry fee of $5 for each print. This is common for photo competitions and would allow for a higher payment to the judge, to attract more experienced judges, and to help with travel expenses for the two trips if the judge is not local. We will decide at a later date how these fees will be handled.
If you have any questions about the print competition, please call or text Shirley Pohlman at

Looking forward to another impressive print exhibit,
PRINT COMPETITION COMMITTEE
